“Our old guard has already shifted and kind of changed. We really do have a group of new young talent already.” – UFC president Dana White

Following the “UFC on FX 4: Maynard vs. Guida” weigh-ins on June 21 in Atlantic City, NJ, the UFC president briefly spoke with a small group of reporters and gave them a short rundown of the current group of title holders that top the seven weight classes on his roster. Obviously, the flyweight division has yet to crown a champion, so it was not included, but the winner of Joseph Benavidez vs. Demetrious Johnson later this year will join the elite group of fighters that rule the world’s biggest mixed martial arts promotion.

Read below to see what White had to say about the best fighter in each division from bantamweight to heavyweight.

Heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos:

“His style is – he’s basically like Chuck Liddell. It’s sprawl and brawl. This guy stops you from taking him down and knocks people out. What more could you ask for from a heavyweight champion? You know, you could end up with a heavyweight champion that is boring as hell, goes the distance. We got a guy who lights people up every time he fights.”

Light heavyweight champion Jon Jones:

“The one thing about Jon Jones that I don’t always like to pump it up and talk about it is, he’s a young guy. He’s got a lot of things to learn in the sport still – more than just fighting. But the potential is unbelievable. If he stays on the right track and does the right things, this guy could go down as the greatest ever. I just don’t see anybody beating this guy anytime soon.”

Middleweight champion Anderson Silva:

“Not only the best fighter ever, but the pound-for-pound best right now.”

Welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre:

He actually starts full bore training again tomorrow (June 22). Tomorrow’s his day back from his knee surgery he starts 100 per cent training again tomorrow, so he’ll be back in November.

Lightweight champion Benson Henderson:

We’ve got a stacked 155 pound division. God knows what couple happen. We could either find a dominant 155-pounder (in Henderson)…or this (championship belt) could switch hands every fight.

Featherweight champion Jose Aldo:

(He’s) unstoppable. I mean this guy’s becoming a star for us now too.

Bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz:

He’s hurt right now but we’ve got him. (Urijah) Faber and (Renan) Barao will fight, then the winner of that fight will fight Cruz when he comes back from his injury.

Dana is completely right about Henderson and the LW division. If he gets by Edgar again, I see him holding the belt for a long time.
