UFC President Dana White teased all week leading up to UFC on FOX 4 that the most impressive fighter from the main or co-main event would be granted a light heavyweight title shot.

Lyoto Machida was that man.

Machida knocked out Ryan Bader with one punch in the second round of their fight and White believed the victory was enough to earn a shot at the winner of the UFC 151 main event between champion Jon Jones and challenger Dan Henderson.

“Machida has a fire in him and he wants a shot at the title” White said following UFC on FOX 4. “Lyoto Machida was the most impressive tonight, and he gets the shot.”

Machida has already fought Jones once before, losing by second round submission back at UFC 140 in Dec. 2011. Although he lost, the Brazilian had his high points against the dominant champion, arguable winning the first round.

It is unknown at this time where or when Machida’s title shot will take place, but it will likely be at the end of 2012 or beginning or 2013, barring are major injuries to Machida, Jones or Henderson.
