After suffering a unanimous decision defeat to Forrest Griffin at UFC 148, former UFC light heavyweight champion and UFC Hall-of-Fame inductee Tito Ortiz officially retired from mixed martial arts competition inside the Octagon at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Ortiz’s retirement was by no means surprising as “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” stated several months ago that the fight against Griffin would be the last of his MMA career.

However, with the conclusion of the fight, the news is no official. Read what the former UFC light heavyweight champion had to say in his post-fight interview with Forrest Griffin below.

“I gave it my all man…I was tired in the third but I came in and I fought.”

Ortiz retires from the sport with a 17-10-1 record including a UFC record five consecutive light heavyweight title defences. Notable victories in the career of the 37-year-old include Ken Shamrock (three times), Vitor Belfort, Forrest Griffin (twice) and Ryan Bader.
