The 6 Best Photos From UFC on FUEL TV 6: Franklin vs. Le

As the old saying goes “a picture is worth a thousand words”. The saying applies to this day and without a doubt, applies to mixed martial arts as some of the sports most historic moments are relived through the images that captured them.

There is nothing better than a snapshot of a fighter dealing with tragedy or triumph, or a picture of a perfectly timed strike, every microscopic fragment of impact relived as limbs and jaws collide. A photo can display a range of emotions, happiness and sadness, victory and defeat. Every picture is different, each having a unique distinction and personal story.

That being said, let’s look back at the 6 best photos from UFC on FUEL TV 6: Franklin vs. Le.

6. Riki Fukuda Swings And Misses
Middleweight Riki Fukuda attempted to kick Tom DeBlass’ head off his shoulders in the opening fight of the UFC on FUEL TV 6 preliminary card. While Fukuda was unsuccessful, the two 185-pounders fought hard for 15-minutes with Fukuda walking away the winner by unanimous decision.

5. Jon Tuck Lands A Right
UFC debutee Jon Tuck made an impression in his first Octagon appearance, winning a unanimous decision to China’s own Tiequan Zhang. The lightweight bout was one of the best of the night and saw both men have their moments, but ultimately Tuck inflicted more damage and was awarded the decision.

4. Tekaya Mizugaki Waves To The Crowd
Japanese bantamweight Tekaya Mizugaki showed off his new digs to the Chinese crowd after his one-sided win against Jeff Hougland at UFC on FUEL TV 6. Mizugaki’s face may be beaten up, but it doesn’t hinder his spirits after picking up his first win since September 2011.

3. Thiago Silva Celebrates
There is no denying Thiago Silva has one of the most terrifying celebrations in all of mixed martial arts. We haven’t seen it in years — the last time Silva finished a fight was August 2009 — but after his third-round submission of Stanislav Nedkov, the Brazilian did his signature celebration of going to the camera and doing the slit throat motion.

2. Dong Hyun Kim Double Fist Smash
South Korean fighter Dong Hyun Kim was being pretty conservative as he dominated Paulo Thiago at UFC on FUEL TV 6. That is, up until the final moments of the fight. With time dwindling in the third round, Kim postured up from top control and began throwing double hammerfists with ruthless intent. Thiago survived to the final bell, but it was without a doubt the most exciting moment of the fight.

1. Rich Franklin Meets The Floor
Former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin and his face got a nice introduction to the Octagon floor after Franklin’s UFC on FUEL TV 6 opponent Cung Le landed a perfectly placed right hook that sent ‘Ace’ crashing to the mat in highlight reel fashion. It was the first time Franklin lost a middleweight bout to anyone other than Anderson Silva, which leaves the career of the 38-year-old in jeopardy moving forward.
