The 6 Best Photos From UFC on FOX: Velasquez vs. Dos Santos

The old saying goes “a picture is worth a thousand words”, that saying applies to this day and without a doubt applies to mixed martial arts as some of the sports most historic moments have been relived through the images that captured them.

Some pictures just look good, others have a story behind them, however, the UFC’s debut on FOX had a few special, one of kind moments in its own right.

That being said, lets look back at the 6 best photos from UFC on FOX: Velasquez vs. Dos Santos taken by Donald Miralle of

6. Ben Henderson Lands An Elbow On Clay Guida

Ben Henderson connects with a nice elbow in the clinch against the cage. The strike was one of many that Clay Guida received in the three round “fight of the year” candidate. Look at all that hair!

5. Junior dos Santos Puts Cain Velasquez Away
After dropping Cain Velasquez with a big overhand right, Junior dos Santos finished off the fight with some beautiful strikes on the ground. Velasquez was down for the count only 64 seconds into the first round making dos Santos the new UFC heavyweight champion.

4.  Alex Caceres Rattles Cole Escovedo’s Jaw With A Right Hand
In the best performance of his UFC career, Alex “Bruce Leroy” Caceres dominated Cole Escovedo for three rounds en route to a unanimous decision victory. Caceres landed a number of flashy and clean shots, but one of the best of the fight was the right hand in the clinch that briefly morphed Escovedo’s face. Nice.
3. Ben Henderson Attempts An Axe Kick
The strike did not connect, but Ben Henderson showed stunning athleticism and flexibility with this axe kick attempt.

2. Junior dos Santos Gets His Hand Raised In Victory
A photo that really displays the full range of emotions inside the octagon after Junior dos Santos knocked out Cain Velasquez to win the UFC heavyweight title. Triumph in the eyes of dos Santos. Sorrow on the face of Velasquez. Even Bruce Buffer is fired up as he announces dos Santos as the new heavyweight champion of the world.

1. DaMarques Johnson Knocks Out Clay Harvison
In a performance that was arguably deserving of “Knockout of the Night”, DaMarques Johnson connects with a perfect left shovel-punch to knock Clay Harvison down and out. Look at the impact as Johnson’s fist gets a righteous introduction to Harvison’s jaw.

My favourite two photos are Bendo landing the elbow and Caceres landing the right hand. I love the first photo because of how artistic it is… visually it’s just a really interesting image. The second image is great because of how distorted Escovedo’s face looks, obviously.
