Rich Franklin vs. Cung Le Set As UFC on FUEL TV 6 Headliner
News of the bout was confirmed to media members by UFC president Dana White following the UFC on FOX 4 post-fight press conference Saturday night in Los Angeles.
Franklin and Le were scheduled to face one another at UFC 148 in July, but a number of injuries resulted in Franklin fighting Wanderlei Silva at UFC 147 and Le facing Patrick Cote at UFC 148.
Like all UFC main events, the 185-pound contest will be a five-round bout.
Franklin (29-6) returns from over one-year away from the sport with a unanimous decision victory against Silva at UFC 148. While the originally scheduled bout against Le at UFC 148 was expected to be Franklin’s return to the middleweight division after a stint at light heavyweight, the short-notice fight against Silva took place at a 190-pound catchweight. Franklin’s official return to middleweight will take place at UFC on FUEL TV 6.
Le (8-2) picked up his first UFC victory when he beat Patrick Cote at UFC 148. The UFC made it known that they wanted the Vietnamese fighter to headline the UFC on FUEL TV 6 fight card, but an injury suffered in his victory against Cote held the bout from being confirmed until now.
UFC on FUEL TV 6 goes down Nov. 10 from Cotai Arena, Venetian Macau Resort Hotel in Macau, China.
