Poll Results: Did Jon Jones Make The Right Decision To Turn Down Chael Sonnen At UFC 151?

The biggest story in the world of MMA over the past week has been the cancellation of UFC 151 and the fact Jon Jones turned down a fight against last minute replacement Chael Sonnen after Dan Henderson pulled out of the event due to injury.

Jones has received a lot of heat from fans, media and the UFC for his decision to turn down the fight with Sonnen and for the subsequent demise of the Sept. 1 event.

The 24-year-old champion will now compete against Vitor Belfort in the main event of UFC 152 on Sept. 22., but even with that, Jones’ choice to not fight Sonnen on eight days notice is still the talk of the town.

With the subject fresh in mind, we asked the Fight Cove readers to vote on the latest poll with the question being “Did Jon Jones Make The Right Decision To Turn Down Chael Sonnen At UFC 151?”.

The poll results were overwhelmingly one-sided as 95% of the voters believe Jones made the wrong decision to turn down the fight with Sonnen. Many are under the impression the fight between Jones and Sonnen will happen down the road, but with Sonnen stepping up just over a week away from the event and not having a training camp, Jones would have had a huge advantage.

On the flip side, just 5% of the voters thought Jones was right in his decision to not fight an opponent he had not put in a training camp for.
