The match ups continue to pour in for December’s The Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale as a heavyweight bout between Pat “HD” Barry and Shane del Rosario has been added to the Dec. 15 event, set to take place in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Both men are known for delivering exciting fights, however after both suffered losses in their last UFC appearances, a win is in order.

Barry and Del Rosario join main event fighters Roy Nelson and Shane Carwin as the only heavyweights currently booked for The Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale fight card.

MMAJunkie.com first reported news of the match up with sources close to the fighters. UFC officials have yet to confirm the bout.

Barry (7-5) has struggled to find consistency since joining the UFC in mid-2009, never having won two fights in a row in nine Octagon appearances. The striking specialist was knocked out by Lavar Johnson earlier this year but will look to rebound from the disappointing defeat with a knockout win of his own. In 12 career fights, Barry has only reached the judges once and is eager continue keeping the fate of his fights in his own hands.

Del Rosario (11-1) suffered the first loss of his mixed martial arts career last May when he was defeated by Stipe Miocic via TKO in the UFC debut at UFC 146. The fight was del Rosario’s first in over one-year after a car accident left the career of the 29-year-old in jeopardy. The California native has finished all 11 opponents he has faced in his career – eight by knockout, three by submission. Now back in the routine of being a full-time fighter, del Rosario looks to make good in his second UFC appearance on Dec. 15.

It is unknown at this time if Barry vs. Del Rosario will take place on the televised main card on FX or the preliminary card, which typically airs on FUEL TV and Facebook.

The Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale goes down Dec. 15 from The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. A heavyweight bout between “TUF 16″ coaches Roy Nelson and Shane Carwin is expected to headline the event.
