Fight Coverage: Top Headlines Of The Week (October 1st-7th)
For the third of four consecutive weeks, the UFC held an event as UFC on FX 5: Browne vs Bigfoot took place last Friday at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The organization’s fourteenth free event of the year featured a number of exciting bouts and saw Antonio Silva defeat Travis Browne in the main event. Seven of the 10 bouts on the card were finished inside the distance with Diego Nunes, Bart Palaszewski, Michael Johnson and Justin Edwards walking away with $40,000 post-fight bonuses.
As usual with all UFC events there was plenty of news in the lead-up and fallout that have mixed martial arts fans talking.

- Dennis Hallman was released from the UFC after missing weight for his UFC on FX 5 bout against Thiago Tavares.
- UFC President Dana White did an extended sit-down interview with FUEL TV correspondent Ariel Helwani to discuss his past, present and future as UFC president.
- The UFC 153: Silva vs. Bonnar pre-fight media conference call went down on Thursday with Anderson Silva, Stephan Bonnar, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Dave Herman all participating.
- Strikeforce middleweight champion Luke Rockhold is injured and out of his title defence against Lorenz Larkin scheduled for Nov. 3 in Oklahoma City.
- Former WEC featherweight champion Urijah Faber said he believes he could “do well” in a fight against middleweight Michael Bisping.
