The UFC 143 fight card has suffered another injury, this time to preliminary fighter Justin Edwards. FightCove.com was able to exclusively confirm Edwards has been forced out of his February 4th bout against Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson. Set to replace Edwards is Dan Stittgen, a 31-year-old fighter from Illinois.
Stittgen (7-1) has fought primarily on the midwest regional scene up to this point in his career and will make his UFC debut on short notice against Thompson. Stittgen’s lone career loss comes to the fighter he is replacing in the bout, Justin Edwards.
Thompson (5-0) is one of the most accomplished amateur kickboxers out there at the moment. He was 37-0 as an amateur kickboxer and 56-0 as a professional. He was originally an injury replacement himself, but now faces an opponent who will be taking the fight on even shorter notice.
