Chad Mendes vs. Hacran Dias Added To UFC on FX 6 In Australia
It is unknown at this time if the Mendes vs. Dias bout will take place on the main card, which airs on FX, or the preliminary portion of the card that is likely to air on FUEL TV and Facebook.
Brazilian MMA journalist Ana Hissa tweeted news of the match up on Monday. UFC officials have yet to confirm the bout.
Mendes (12-1) last fought at UFC 148 in July where he defeated Cody McKenzie by knockout in 31-seconds. The win was the first for “Money” since failing to dethrone UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo in January and marked his first knockout win in nearly three years. The Team Alpha-Male product is 3-1 in the UFC and is 7-1 overall under the ZUFFA banner.
Dias (21-1-1) made his UFC debut at UFC 147 in June, defeating Iuri Alcantara by unanimous decision for his ninth consecutive win. The Brazilian gets a stern leap in competition for his second fight with the organization when he takes on Mendes, a former featherweight title challenger and consensus top-3 in the world at 145-pounds. The 28-year-old has only lost once in his 23-fight career and will attempt to catapult up the rankings when he fights out of Brazil for the first time.
UFC on FX 6 goes down Dec. 14 from the Gold Coast Convention Centre in Queensland, Australia. The event features the welterweight and lightweight finals of “The Ultimate Fighter: Austrlia vs. UK” as well as a headlining bout between coaches George Sotriopoulos and Ross Pearson.
